How it works
- 1
Read the mystery phrase
An everyday phrase appears — like "Dziękuję bardzo" or "Takk fyrir". Some you can sound out, some are in scripts you've never seen.
- 2
Pick the language — fast
Four options, but the decoys are sneaky neighbours: think Polish next to Czech, Slovak, and Slovenian. You have 20 seconds.
- 3
Score for speed
A correct answer is worth 1000 points, plus up to 500 more the faster you lock it in. The reveal tells you what the phrase means and where it's spoken.
Why it's fun
🌍 Tour the world in five rounds
One round it's a phrase you can almost sound out, the next it's Georgian or Thai script. Over 30 languages across families — from Icelandic to Swahili to Korean.
⚡ Speed turns guesses into duels
Everyone answers the same question, but fast fingers earn a bonus of up to 500 points. Slam your pick early — or play it safe and study the spelling.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Guess the Language free?
- Yes — completely free to play in your browser on PartyRoomGames. No download, no signup needed. Just create a room and share the code.
- How many players do you need?
- 2 to 8 players per room. It's a great icebreaker with bigger groups — everyone answers every round, so nobody sits out.
- Do I need to speak other languages?
- Not at all. Every phrase is something simple like "thank you" or "good morning", and clever guessing from the look of the words is half the fun.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. The game works on any modern phone, tablet, or laptop browser, and everyone in the room can use a different device.
